MCP server

The Dose Guy runs two public, read-only Model Context Protocol servers, so AI assistants such as Claude can look up the same compound data this site publishes. No account, sign-in or API key is needed. Both use Streamable HTTP.

Endpoints

  • Reference data: https://thedoseguy.com/api/mcp-info. Compound names and aliases, category, administration routes, and half-life and regulatory status where published, with a link to each compound’s cited research. No ratings, dosing, vendors or prices.
  • Full: https://thedoseguy.com/api/mcp. Compound records with the site’s editorial evidence tier, plus the tracked vendor list and current listed prices.

Tools

Both servers:

  • search_compounds(query): searches compound names and aliases, including brand names, research codes and shorthand. Returns up to 10 matches.
  • get_compound(slug): one compound’s record, with a link to its page on this site.

The full server adds:

  • list_vendors(): tracked vendors that are currently online, with DOSE SCORE, status, last-verified date and a link to the review.
  • best_vendors_for(compoundSlug): each vendor’s lowest listed price per mg for one compound, cheapest first.

Every tool is read-only. Nothing you send changes any data.

Add it to Claude

  1. In Claude, open Customize › Connectors and add a custom connector.
  2. Name it The Dose Guy and paste an endpoint URL from above. Leave the authentication fields empty.
  3. In a chat, turn it on from + › Connectors.

On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner may need to add the connector first.

In Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http thedoseguy https://thedoseguy.com/api/mcp-info

Any other MCP client that supports Streamable HTTP can connect to either URL without authentication.

Example prompts

  • “What is retatrutide, and what is its regulatory status?”
  • “Look up Mounjaro and give me its generic name and research codes.”
  • “Compare semaglutide, tirzepatide and retatrutide: other names and how each is administered.”
  • “Find The Dose Guy’s page on TB-500 so I can read the cited studies.”

What it covers

Published compounds only, refreshed nightly from the same data as this site. Every result links to its page here, where the sources are cited. This is research and reference information, not medical advice. How data is handled is in the privacy policy.

Troubleshooting

  • “Unknown compound slug”: slugs are lowercase and hyphenated, such as retatrutide. Run search_compounds first to find one.
  • The connector won’t connect: use the URL exactly as shown, withhttps:// and no trailing slash.
  • Opening the URL in a browser shows an error: that is expected. MCP clients send POST requests; a plain browser visit gets HTTP 405.
