Boldenone vs Nandrolone
6 sources
For a bulk, nandrolone. It builds more size, soothes beat-up joints, and has real human trials behind it, which boldenone does not. The catch is prolactin, so it only works with enough testosterone under it and cabergoline on hand. Boldenone wins if prolactin sides are a dealbreaker for you, or if you want leaner, slower gains with endurance on top and can commit to a long run. Either one shuts you down, so plan the exit before the first pin.
How they differ
The difference that matters is what each one costs you to run. Nandrolone builds more mass and brings water with it, the same water that cushions sore joints and blurs the mirror. It is a 19-nor, and like the rest of that family it is progestogenic: it pushes prolactin, and without enough testosterone alongside, libido goes flat. Boldenone is the slower, leaner builder. It brings appetite and endurance instead of water, and its catch is your blood: it drives red cell production harder than most injectables, so hematocrit climbs. Nandrolone’s problem shows up in the bedroom. Boldenone’s shows up on a blood test, and only if you take one.
Both are slow movers, and boldenone is the slower. Its undecylenate ester takes weeks to build, which is why people run boldenone for 16 weeks or more and split it into two pins a week. Deca, the decanoate, is a 12 to 16 week commitment on one or two pins a week. NPP, the phenylpropionate, is the fast version: a pin every other day, effects within a couple of weeks, and a quick exit if prolactin bites. That makes NPP the sensible way to find out how you handle nandrolone before you commit to a long ester you cannot pull back.
Day to day, boldenone makes you hungry and makes cardio feel easier, and a subset of people get restless and anxious on it. Nandrolone makes heavy sets kinder to elbows and knees, and some users report a flatter mood. The exit differs most. Nandrolone’s metabolites hang around for months, so the wait before your PCT is longer than on almost anything else, and you should plan for that before you start.
What the research shows
No trial has compared these two in people. The only paper that tested both used cells in a dish, and beyond it the evidence is lopsided: nandrolone has clinical trials, boldenone has none.
The dish found both hard on blood-vessel cells, not which is harder, and a dish is not a person. Nandrolone’s gains are measured in patients, not lifters; boldenone’s are measured only in forum years.
How people run them
Both ride on a testosterone base, and the base is set differently. Nandrolone wants testosterone at 1.5 to 2 times its own dose, because androgen signaling is what keeps the prolactin sides away. Boldenone just needs a base at least equal to it. The doses overlap on paper but not in effect: nandrolone does more for size per milligram, so people run it at 200 to 400 mg a week and boldenone at 300 to 600. A milligram of one is not a milligram of the other.
Bloodwork splits the same way. On nandrolone, the numbers to watch are prolactin and lipids. On boldenone, it is hematocrit, and the Sides below say when and what to do about it.
Switching from nandrolone to boldenone, usually because libido went, take the first boldenone pin at your next scheduled slot and hold the testosterone base steady. The nandrolone keeps working, and keeps its prolactin, for weeks while boldenone builds, so keep the cabergoline handy until the sides clear. Going the other way, start nandrolone low, or as NPP, with cabergoline in the drawer from day one.
The old-school bulk runs both on testosterone, and it works. It also stacks two suppressive long esters, a hematocrit problem, and a prolactin problem, and when something goes wrong you cannot tell which one did it. Run each one alone before you combine them. If sore joints are why you want nandrolone, the gentler version is a low joint dose on TRT, with no boldenone in the picture.
Side effects, side by side
Nandrolone’s sides live in your hormones; boldenone’s live in your blood:
