Fladrafinil
guinea pig1 source
Fladrafinil is a prodrug that your liver converts to flmodafinil, which is itself a fluorinated modafinil analog with no efficacy data. So you’re adding a conversion step to reach a compound that hasn’t been studied for the thing you’re buying it for. The one human study that exists dosed a few volunteers at 20 mg for anti-doping detection, not wakefulness. No efficacy trial, no safety study, no dose-ranging work. If you want the modafinil effect without a prescription, adrafinil has the same prodrug logic with more data behind it, though it taxes the liver on conversion.
What it is
Fladrafinil is a fluorinated structural analog of modafinil that acts as a prodrug for flmodafinil. You swallow fladrafinil, your body converts it to flmodafinil, and from there the metabolic path mirrors the modafinil family: flmodafinil acid and flmodafinil sulfone show up in blood and urine. The conversion adds a delay before the active compound peaks, which means slower onset than taking flmodafinil directly. The entire modafinil-analog tail, fladrafinil, flmodafinil, hydrafinil myristate, sits in the same gray-market space: research chemicals sold as wakefulness upgrades on the strength of structural similarity to a proven drug, without the clinical work to back the upgrade story.
What the research shows
The published evidence is almost entirely about detecting the compound in drug tests, not about whether it works:
Realistic protocols
I can’t write a protocol grounded in evidence because no evidence-based dose exists. The community runs fladrafinil at roughly 50 to 150 mg orally for daytime wakefulness, treating it like a substitute for modafinil or adrafinil. Some users prefer it to adrafinil on the theory that the fluorinated end product is stronger, but that theory rests on structural reasoning, not on any study comparing the two. If you want this mechanism, adrafinil has real human data, though its liver cost is the tradeoff. Fladrafinil is a WADA class S6 prohibited stimulant and will flag on a drug test in competition. If you run fladrafinil anyway, expect a slower onset than flmodafinil due to the prodrug conversion, keep doses conservative, and don’t stack it with other stimulants.
